Ghana Anti-homosexuality

#Ghana #Anti-homosexuality

Late last month, #Ghana's House of Representatives (Parliament) passed a strong "anti-homosexuality" bill.

The bill has strong support among Ghana's Christian, Muslim and traditional leaders.

It is awaiting the signature of President Nana Akufo-Addo for it to come into effect and become law.

In Ghana, homosexuality still carries up to 3 years in prison.

In the new draft law, the punishment has been made more severe and:

 - Promoting homosexuals and their activities in any way

 - Creating a homogenous collection

 - Sponsoring homosexuals

 - Supporting homosexuals and any of their activities in any way will result in up to five (5) years in prison.

The Westerners and their institutions working on human rights have strongly opposed the draft law passed by the Ghanaian Parliament.

The president of the country has not yet signed it and the people who support the draft law are raising complaints saying "Why are they delayed?"

The people of my country are putting a lot of pressure on the president to #sign it, and on the other hand, they are urging the aid-giving West, human rights institutions not to sign it.

If Ghana implements its tough anti-gay law, it could lose a massive $3.8 billion in funding from the World Bank over the next five to six years.
